Ethereum Has Just Flipped Bitcoin! At Least Using This one Measure

The “Flippening” is used in a few senses. The primary sense intended is that Ethereum (ETH) will surpass Bitcoin (BTC) in market capitalization. But that’s not the only meaningful sense. Other measures include surpassing blockchain usage and active wallet usage.

  • Recent data from Deribit, a futures exchange, shows that Ethereum now has more “open interest” than Bitcoin.
  • “Open interest” means the number of options (calls and puts) presently being traded. So, this is one measure of volume.
  • What is likely driving this new interest in Ethereum’s anticipated merge, which was recently confirmed for early September.
